Hair Color 101

Hair color offers an instant change to anyone’s look.  The changes can range from simple and subtle to major and dramatic.  Hair color can also impact hair texture since it will instantly add volume to thin, fine strands and may impact curls and waves in some cases.  When done properly, hair color can make hair softer and easier to care for and style.          

Highlights are a great way to create a new look without a complete change of color or a dramatic cut.  

Use your highlights to make the most of your haircut, perhaps a couple of touches to show off layers, or around your face and parting. This is also a perfect opportunity to accentuate your face shape.

Highlights close to your existing color can create a natural, sunkissed look for a subtle glow. Bolder differences in color, and wider streaks, can be trend-driven, so choose with your wardrobe in mind. Brights can be made more sophisticated by using a flash of color in a single area, along with clever layering.

Tips on how to make your color last

1.  Do not wash the day you color your hair allow your scalps natural oils to build up for the day. Do not wash it.

2. Always use a shampoo and conditioner for color-treated hair.  These are specially made to keep your new color. The normal shampoos and conditioners may be too harsh for your hair.                                   

3. Do not use the hot water .Always keep in mind that it is better to use cool water for your hair. The hot water will make the color fade off fast.
